U8-U14 Summer Season Registration Has Closed:

2022 Tentative Season Calendar (updated as more info becomes available)

Outdoor Practices: Begin once the city opens the fields in April/May.

Games:  Begin the week of June 6.

Team Pictures: Monday June 6, Green Fields; 5:30-7:30.

Tournaments (final):

  • Shakopee River Valley Rumble: June 10-12; Boys and Girls U10-U14
  • Black and Blue Tournament (Location: HealthEast Sports Center): July 8-10; Boys and Girls U8-U14
  • Centennial Summer Sizzle: July 15-17: Boys and Girls U12-U14
  • Girls U10-U14 MSLax State Tournament (Maple Grove): July 29-31
  • Boys U8/U10 YLM Jamborees (Location: TBD): July 23-24
  • Boys U12/U14 YLM Districts/Sectional Playoffs (Location: TBD): July 25-28
  • Boys U12/U14 YLM State Tournament: (Location: TBD): July 30-31

Woodbury United Lacrosse Overview Calendar & Information

Woodbury United Lacrosse is a 501(c)3 non-profit community organization that supports lacrosse in the City of Woodbury. All players who wish to play lacrosse are welcome at all ages. Registration opens in early January and closes in March.

All board members and parent coaches are volunteers. As a growing sport, we rely on dedicated parents to support the program in a variety of roles.

The lacrosse leagues Woodbury participates in are administered by Youth Lacrosse Minnesota (boys) and Minnesota School Girls Lacrosse Association (girls).  Here is a tentative timeline for the upcoming season:

Late February - Early April:

  • Try Lacrosse for Free events
  • Pre-tryout/preseason clinic will be offered for interested players in March (this is now stand-alone clinic offered for an additional fee, registration to open for clinic in January).
  • Tryouts for U12 and U14 "A” teams.
  • U8 and U10 will have evaluations to divide team evenly.

Late April - May:

  • With City permission to utilize fields, U12/14 start the last week of April and U8/10 start the 2nd week of May.
  • Outdoor practices & focus on fundamentals
  • Practices are typically 1 to 3 times per week depending on the age level and are held on Monday through Thursday.

June - July: 

  • League play begins the first week of June
  • MsLax is the girls league:
    • For U10-U14 = 8 regular season games. Typically 2 practices per week. Teams participate in 2 to 3 weekend tournaments.
    • For U8 = 2-3 weekend jamborees, one of which Woodbury may host. Usually the first and third Saturday of June. 
  • YLM is the boys league:
    • U12-U14 = 10 regular season games. Typically 2 practices a week. Teams participate in 2 to 3 weekend tournaments, plus state tournament, typically the last weekend of July and/or first weekend in August.
    • U10 = 8 regular season games. 1 to 2 practices a week. Teams participate in 1 to 2 weekend tournaments. End of season jamboree on a weekend at the end of July.
    • U8 = 6 regular season games. 1-2 practices a week. 1 weekend tournament. End of season jamboree on a weekend at the end of July.
  • U6 = 8-10 clinics typically on Wednesday evenings during the Summer
  • Equipment
    • Girls = stick, goggles, mouthguard, cleats
    • Boys = stick, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, athletic supporter/cup, mouthguard, cleats,
    • U6 = Stick

Summer registration fees pay for non-parent coaches, YLM/MsLax team registration fees, fields/facilities rentals, official, tournaments entry fees, background checks, insurance, preseason scrimmages, medical field coverage, equipment and uniforms.

Woodbury hosts the Black & Blue summer lacrosse tournament. One of the largest association only lacrosse tournaments in the Midwest. For the 2022 season, the tournament is slated to be held the weekend of July 8-10. This is currently the only fundraiser we run as an association and we rely on parents to fulfill their required Dibs volunteer hours during this tournament.

COVID 19 and WULAX Activities

WULAX programming is underway again. Our COVID 19 safety policies mirror Governor Walz’s recommendations as well as the CDC's and Minnesota Department of Health's (MDH) youth sports guidelines (see links below).  Please see our COVID preparedness plan for more details.

We ask that those of you involved in any WULAX activities to be conscientious of these guidelines and considerate of others. Please also be mindful of facility rules for players, coaches and spectators. Individuals will differ in their assessment of situations and the adherence to guidelines.

All players need to be a member of US Lacrosse to register for the upcoming summer season. Here is a link to the website to get a new or renew the registration. (Membership is not required for any of the Try Lacrosse for Free events).
